If you feel that your lips have always been too thin or
perhaps have lost their fullness over the years and you
are, as a result, also experiencing unwanted wrinkles
around your mouth then you are more than likely a good
candidate for Lip Augmentation.
Lip Augmentation is a surgical procedure that performs
the action of plumping up the lips and thereby reducing
the instance of wrinkles around the mouth. Lip Augmentation
can also help to correct a downturn of the mouth, due
to loss of good skin texture, caused by the natural
aging process and aggravated in some cases by smoking
over a long period of time.
As with most surgical procedures surgeons differ in
their favoured techniques when it comes to Lip Augmentation.
However probably the most popular method is the Dermo-Fat-Graft.
This generally involves the removal (from an existing
scar area on the body like an appendix scar) of a
section of the dermis that boasts an underlying portion
of fat. The graft is then trimmed to the correct size
and inserted in the desired area of the lip through
a tiny incision made on the inside of the mouth. Although
some of the fat will be re-absorbed into the body, what
portion remains after approximately 6 to 7 weeks will
stay in place. Swelling goes down in matter of days
following the procedure.
You can rest assured that once a digital photo of
your lips has been examined by your surgeon and your
particular desires and aspirations regarding the outcome
of your Lip Augmentation digested, that the best method
specifically suited to you will be suggested. The surgeon
will then discuss the chosen technique with you in detail
and you will be encouraged to ask as many questions
as you like prior to surgery.
It must also be remembered that Lip Augmentation is
not a once off procedure that lasts for life. Therefore
you will more than likely need to repeat the procedure
at some stage.
